HR Excellence in Research
In 2025, the Lisbon School of Architecture formally initiated the process of adhering to the Human Resources Strategy for Researchers (HRS4R), with the goal of obtaining the HR Excellence in Research award.
Securing this distinction represents a strategic step for the Faculty, reaffirming its commitment to creating a modern, ethical, competitive research environment that is internationally aligned with European best practices. The award is not only external recognition of the quality of internal policies but also a transformative instrument that will strengthen the Faculty’s scientific capacity and attractiveness to both national and international researchers.
By adopting the principles of the European Charter for Researchers and the Code of Conduct for the Recruitment of Researchers, the FA commits to promoting more transparent and merit-based recruitment processes, clear and equitable evaluation mechanisms, and a more robust research ecosystem. This includes topics such as data management, ethics and professional conduct, biosafety, scientific communication, mentorship, equality, career development, and support for mobility.
The HR Excellence in Research award will be granted following an independent evaluation of the Faculty’s Action Plan by EURAXESS, an initiative of the European Commission that promotes research careers and ensures high-quality working conditions for researchers across the European Union.
For the Lisbon School of Architecture, this process is especially significant: it will strengthen research activity, enhance the capacity to attract talent and funding, professionalize internal procedures, consolidate the institution’s scientific culture, and increase its visibility and competitiveness within the European research area. It is therefore a decisive opportunity to establish research as one of the central pillars of the mission of FA ULisboa.
