Workshop “Creating a Vision for Port Cities: Morocco Edition”

Workshop “Creating a Vision for Port Cities: Morocco Edition”

We are pleased to share the details of our upcoming 5-day international workshop “Creating a Vision for Port Cities: Morocco Edition”, from 1–5 December 2025 in Rabat, Morocco, with field visits to Rabat–Salé, Casablanca, Tangier City, and Tangier Med.

The workshop is part of a growing international initiative developed by the PortCityFutures research center, based in the Leiden–Delft–Erasmus (LDE) alliance and the UNESCO Chair Water, Ports and Historic Cities. to explore how port cities can navigate the intertwined challenges of economic transformation, environmental change, and social inclusion. It brings together professionals, researchers, and policymakers working across disciplines such as urban planning, heritage, environmental governance, and port development.

Participants will gain:
• Strategic tools for vision-building — including stakeholder mapping, scenario planning, and value-based approaches.
• An integrated perspective connecting spatial, economic, ecological, and cultural dimensions of port city development.
• Case-based insights from Moroccan port cities that resonate with global urban–maritime challenges.
• Rich networking opportunities with international experts, industry collaborators, and city practitioners.

The workshop is designed to foster collaboration between people and disciplines, creating a shared platform for learning and exchange between diverse actors shaping sustainable port city futures.

We would be delighted if you would consider joining the workshop yourself, and we would also be very grateful if you could help circulate this invitation within your  professional and academic networks to colleagues who might benefit from it.
