Applications are now open for the "Regenerative Futures Summer School: Climate-Resilient Reconstruction in Fragile Contexts", to be held at the Lisbon School of Architecture (FA.ULisboa), from 6 to 10 July 2026.

Organised by the Regenerative Futures Working Group at Lisbon School of Architecture, in collaboration with UN-Habitat and the European Centre on Urban Risk, the workshop will explore innovative and community-based approaches to reconstruction in fragile contexts, with a particular focus on climate resilience, post-disaster recovery, and inclusive design.

Through expert inputs, studio-based work, field visits and interaction with perspectives from the Afghan context, participants will engage with topics including:

  • climate- and earthquake-resilient housing
  • community infrastructure reconstruction
  • nature-based and water-sensitive approaches
  • inclusive and universal design
  • settlement strategies in fragile contexts

The workshop brings together an international and multidisciplinary team of contributors from academia and practice, including colleagues from UN-Habitat Afghanistan, FA.ULisboa, CERU, Aga Khan Foundation, and Erasmus University Rotterdam.

The course may be recognised as a 3 ECTS intensive course.
