BLURB: A lecture on contextual, collaborative, and improvisational approaches to design and construction.

SYNOPSIS: This lecture reflects on architecture as a collective and experimental practice with tangible social impact. Drawing from projects in Angola, Portugal, and South Africa, it explores how design-build collaborations unfold through dialogue between cultural and academic institutions and the local communities they engage with. These projects approach making not merely as a technical act but as a pedagogical process, reimagining everyday infrastructures as spaces of care, inclusion, and civic encounter. Rather than pursuing fixed forms, this approach values process, reciprocity, and improvisation, proposing architecture as a situated praxis – contextual, collaborative, and open-ended.
